Improving the Network, satisfying the customers

As everyone knows, Wi-Fi is no longer just a luxury; it’s a necessity in today’s connected world.   Hospitality companies know having a robust Wi-Fi platform is essential to serving their customers.

NTS was recently brought in to help stabilize and improve the network infrastructure at an RV Resort in Savannah, GA. The IT network used a combination of direct building‐to‐building fiber‐optic connections, ethernet, and wireless bridges to connect 21 Wi-Fi equipment poles over this 26-acre property.

The existing RV Resort network was constantly going down, which prevented conducting critical business processes, such as processing credit card transactions.  The Wi-Fi network was also unusable in most areas of the resort, which was the root cause of many customer complaints.

The NTS team reviewed the network layout and identified issues affecting the core IT and Public Wi-Fi network. The network was constantly going down because the fiber and ethernet cables were not connected correctly, which caused network loops. The Wi-Fi performance was poor because of defective low‐quality hardware, improper layout, and improperly configured equipment.

The NTS team replaced all incompatible network hardware with new equipment that enabled 24/7/365 monitoring and remote management. For hard-to-reach devices and to maintain safety on the job, a boom lift was used to safely remove and install Wi-Fi equipment that was otherwise inaccessible.

After deploying the new equipment, the NTS team measured Wi-Fi and network performance throughout the property. The Wi-Fi measurements included first, second, and third access point signal strength,
signal‐to‐noise ratio, co‐channel interference, adjacent‐channel interference,
maximum transmit rates (Mbps), beacon overhead, and offending BSSIDs. This data allowed the NTS team to see the overall health of the Wi-Fi network and identify areas where improvements could be made.

The NTS team’s work has resulted in a stable and reliable network at the  Resort. The internal network uptime is now stable, the Wi-Fi network provides plenty of bandwidth for hungry consumption devices in all resort areas, and customer complaints are no longer an issue.
